COMEDY LOVERS! We are putting on a series of comedy previews at the quirtky and wonderful Paper Dress Vintage in Hackney, with a touch of burlesque of course.
TUE 12TH APRIL: RICHARD TODD & CHEEKYKITA
Prague Fringe award winner and "up and coming weirdo" (Chortle), 2015 NATYS Finalist, Laughing Horse runner-up 2015 and winner of Colchester new comedian 2015, the Manchester Wire describes this absurd character clown comedian as "one of the strangest acts you’re ever likely to see. But see her you must, because it’s very difficult to describe exactly why she’s a genius".
Cheekykita has performed her physical, unusual and oddball comedy in and around the UK and beyond, wowing audiences with her sublime surrealness. "A Mancunian maverick like no one else out there" (Alarmist Magazine), she is now a regular face on the London comedy circuit and at festivals, including the Edinburgh Fringe where her "wonderful, silly, surreal, frantic and fantastical show" was awarded four stars from the Edfringe Review. "Part physical clowning, part Alan Partridge meets CBBC” (Three Weeks).
Following a case of mistaken identity, Richard attempts to define who he is, only to discover his covetous twin brother is using the identity he intended for himself.
Amused Moose Laugh Off winner, Up the Creek finalist 2012, Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year runner-up, menial task enthusiast and part-time tortured artist, Richard's debut hour might conform to the above, but might also not... such is the beauty of the Edinburgh Preview!
What the critics say about Richard:
"An inventive comic thinker, with surrealism that creates weird imagery with robust, if unlikely, internal logic" (Steve Bennett, Chortle)
"A smart surrealist" (The Independent)
"Your cousin's a lawyer" (Brenda Todd)
...PLUS London burlesque starlet Helene de Joie providing the jiggles. TICKETS JUST £5 - ON SALE NOW!
